July 15: 1000 Islands to the TSW

The bottom of the Rideau put us in Kingston, Ontario, and from there we went eastward to the 1000 Islands, and then back westward to enter the Trent-Severn Waterway.
As a quick note to those following us on the NEBO app, while we entered Canada totally properly, we may not have continued that effort per se as we bounced back and forth between the US and Canada like a ping pong ball while in the 1000 Islands. Knowing this, we decided to go ’dark’ on NEBO temporarily to hide our trail from customs and immigration. Looks like it worked.

Fun facts: there are actually like 1800 islands in the ’Thousand Islands’. And yes, that’s where the salad dressing name came from.

  1. I’m not technically a boater, but I did have a registered, motorized dinghy for a few years, so I felt justified in downloading Nebo to better follow your voyage. If I had to let someone know where you are, say the border patrol, the app will be very useful. It alleviates the need for you to provide anything more than occasional and random references to cities and locks that can leave the viewer confused.
